BART MARKET STREET ENTRY CANOPIES PROJECT
San Francisco, CA

The BART Market Street Entry Canopies Project, approved by the BART Board of Directors, aims to construct 22 canopies over entrances at BART stations along Market Street in downtown San Francisco, CA.

These canopies are designed to provide several benefits. They protect new escalators from wear and tear caused by elements like rain and wind-swept debris. They also enhance station security and cleanliness with features like motorized gates that can lock the entrances when the stations are closed. Each canopy includes a real-time digital display showing train arrival times, a retractable gate, LED lighting, security cameras, and, interestingly, potentially a living roof designed by Nature in the City to serve as a habitat for wildlife such as the western tiger swallowtail butterflies.

Montez Group supports Shimmick Construction (prime contractor) in implementing a quality control plan, creating inspection and testing plans, providing project closeout support services, and delivering quality control support services for the project.
